About Juboraj Shamim
Juboraj Shamim, a Bangladeshi young film maker who believes, A film is possible with any types of camera on hand. Keeping with the belief, Juboraj Shamim dreamt for making film with an mp4 camera in 2008. ‘Vuter bari’ (The Ghost House) is such type of movie with which he started from. Though the project failed, it open the way he enter into the cinema world. In 2010, he started making film with handicam. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the founder of `Cinemakar’ facilitated to flourish him. Juboraj authored the main story and scripts of the movie ‘Junction’ directed by Nuruzzaman. It is the first movie of ‘Cinemakar’ indeed. In 2014, Juboraj produced his first short film ‘The Putul’(A Family) in Cinemakar. It has been awarded the first prize in ‘Sheikh Rasel National film Festival-2016’ held in Bangladesh Shishu Academy. In the same year, Juboraj’s second short film ‘the Contrast’ has been selected for presenting in three international festivals_ ‘12th BUSAN International Kids and Youth Film Festival’ held in South Korea, ‘Atlas Award International Film Festival-2017’ held in Boston, USA, and ‘Phoenix Film Festival-2017’, held in Melbourne, Australia. Beside above, Juboraj Shamim already made his first feature film name is Adim (The Instinct) which is the last step of post production period and surprisingly in this pandemic period he also complete the shooting of his second feature film Hajot (The Prison). There is noted, for his first feature film he lived in a slum in permanent for seven month and all artist of this film is real character, they are totally amateur also. Actually Juboraj shamim feel comfort to make film with amateur artist who play their own character. The parents of this young filmmaker dreamt of their son to be an engineer. For that purpose, he was admitted into a Bangladeshi private university to study EEE. But, in contrast, ‘the dream for film making’ had been living in Juboraj’s heart since long before he enters into the University. Thus, he liked to spend more hours with some film maker’s vicinity, than academic purpose. This cause his academic education to stop on the midway. Juboraj, as grown up in an industrial aria, his empirically based short films are largely influenced by that particular city culture. He frankly confessed ‘I like to tell the stories from my personal experiences’. Along with the film making job, Juboraj usually contribute to charity and social works many times. He founded a library named ‘amader pathgar’(Our Library) and a night school named ‘amader noisho bidyalaya’ (Our Night School) for working class youth in urban Bangladesh.
